I read the news of an Egyptian lawyer, Nabih al-Wahsh, who sparked outrage when he revealed that women who wear ripped jeans deserved to be raped.

Nabih al-Wahsh made this statement during the Infirad Show, a current affairs talk show in Egypt hosted by Saeid Hasaseen.
Wahsh said it was part of the ‘national duty’ to rape women wearing such garments because they were “inviting men to harass them”.
“Girls must respect themselves so others respect them. “Protecting morals is more important than protecting borders.”
What sort of immoral statement is this? Are you really inviting rapists to come rape? Do you even know the mental and psychological impact of being raped? Maybe he needs to ‘feel’ and know what it means to be raped then he can come out to speak on rape again!
The statement is wrong on two fronts:
1. Coming from a lawyer, he should have exercised a little bit of decorum.
2. He should not have assigned wearing ripped jeans to rape. Rape is a sensitive issue, and he putting it that way makes it very wrong.
It is fine if you make a case or a point about indecent dressing by the ladies, but pitting your valid argument with rape makes it brash, unreasonable and invalid.
While this statement may open up the sensitivity of rape, we should ignore the messenger and focus on the true intent of the message, ladies need to stop dressing indecently!
See, the truth is a lot of ladies know that the way they dress cause a whole lot of problems to men out there, so why further invite problems to you? While the lawyer may be wrong in his statement, I think we need to see beyond the outrage caused by the damaging statement and take a critical look to what is being caused by our ladies nowadays. Please stop indecent dressing. Don’t invite problems to your life.
Women should all come out to condemn indecent dressing, really and truly, it is getting out of hands. What is the importance of trying to be seductive when you know how delicate our society is? I know there are other factors that may cause rape, but why aggravate this canker-worm by dressing indecently!
The question now is:
Is wearing ripped Jeans, indecent?

November 2, 2017 at 9:02 amUnder no circumstances should anyone connect dressing with rape. There’s a difference between conventional wisdom and fact. The conventional wisdom as relates to rape is that your dressing contributes to it, but this is a trick on your brain. Try and create a small community of 10 people where everyone dresses ‘indecently’ and see how they get used to their ‘indecency’. On the other hand, no amount of hiding one’s body can prevent other humans from imagination and curiosity. Here’s the fact: many highly conservative countries in fact have higher rape cases than the more liberal ones. You can make a case for how ‘indecent’ dressing offends your religious or cultural, or even personal values, but do not justify rape. Come on.
