One of Nigeria’s best brains in the accounting practice and an auditor by training and core competence, Morenike Vincent, has demonstrated her passion about helping teenagers and young adults, by launching her new devotional book titled ‘ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE’.
Who is Morenike Vincent?
A lover for God and people, public speaker and heart-writer, loves to help people live awake to the lives they have been called of God to live.
Her heart for family life lead her to start a network for ladies called She’s connected familylife Network for ladies grow together in God while the mirror the phenomenal woman in Proverbs 31.
With the next generation, Her heart is burdened for the education and as such she held the first online Seminar for Academic Excellence in 2016. Thereafter, she has spoken at events where inspiring her audience on to strive for Academic Excellence, make wise career choices, and live Awake to their lives.
What inspired Academic Excellence?
Her Story:
I remember sitting with a classmate in my 300 level in the University, because he had issues with some of his courses. It is easier to just have gotten a tutor for him, but there was something else I saw that I know needed to be addressed; his attitude to his courses. You see he felt that it really did not matter and getting “Cs” were good enough, at least he was not failing. As we sat for over 3 hours talking, he asked me if this is how I spoke to other classmates who had academic issues, I said yes. He later told me that the meeting made all the difference as he saw what he was doing wrong and thereafter, his grade improved.
In a country like ours, where the education sector is not living up to its full capacity, every failure is attributed to “the system”, though this plays its role, but there are other sides to it, one of which we have control over- the individual (the student). Since as individuals we have control over our own life, attitude, choices and decisions, it is best to focus on that to make maximum impact.
Many fail examination because they did not care understand the matrices that determine their success. It takes more than just registering for a course/ subject, students need to know what it take for them to do very well, and this differs from course to course, from subject to subject.
I have had my fair share of academic mistakes, I saw my grades drop and then it was more convenient to say it was because I was serving in church leadership, than to accept that it was all my doing, till God pointed out to me the truths I share with teenagers and young adults today.
In my interactions and conversations with teens and young adults, I see why God put this book in my heart and allowed that I give expression to his heart on the matter.
In May 2016, I hosted a FREE 3 hour online seminar for teenagers and young adults on Academic Excellence principles, nuggets and thereafter, in June 2016, held the #30Days#AcademicExcellence daily sharing, packed with nuggets, principles and Academic Excellence stories. Since then, I have spoken on different platforms on Academic Excellence, career choices and intentional/ purposeful living.
