ARE WOMEN STILL DATING UP AND COMING MEN

Eeeew…. Was the scream that filtered off my mouth when I drank the ‘agbo jedi’ my brother brought for me to heal my aching BomBom!

CocaCola has caused trouble with some terrible form of JediJedi… Eeez not funny at all!

Anyways, while I am at the *agbo*, some cool Orijin is sitting right beside me to relieve the bitter taste of this killing agbo*Talk of the devil….Hehehe.

Or do you want some agbo? Bring your cup, let’s share!

ARE WOMEN STILL DATING THE UP AND COMING GUYS?

The topic above has brought so many questions on my mind as I have been meeting a lot of single ladies of late who seemingly seem to say that the man that holds all the aces of financial independence is all that matters to them now and not one who is hustling as they say!

I remember back in the days when Mom shared her moonlight tales with us on how she stood with Pop through thick and thin and how she can sit proudly and enjoy the fruits of her labour.. Labour what?

See? They see standing by their men as labour, so that when he stands tall eventually, they both enjoy the fruits together!

My question is, does this still happen nowadays? Do girls still date up and coming men? Does even up and coming men allow the girls that stayed with them enjoy the sweet fruits of ‘labour’?

I remember discussing with my friend Jide on his girlfriend of two years now.

Dee, Rhoda is pregnant for another man!

She wasn’t willing to grow with me oh, Abeg One Ibo Demon has cleared her balance oh. Sharp Sharp she don get Belle!

To say I was shocked was an understatement….LOL

A lady that doesn’t want Abbey sexing her, saying they should wait till wedding night now is the same lady who is pregnant within two months of jumping ship?

Interesting species women are!

Let me bring you back to the books, what is your definition of an up and coming guy. Oh, you know? Well here’s mine –

An Up and coming guy is an hustler. Hustler in every sense of the word. He may be squatting with friends, does not have a job, car, or the best clothes in the world. Smartphones are even a luxury. However you see that he is very ‘hardworking’ and the potentials are there for a really wealthy personality!

What’s your definition?

Ladies I have a question for you!

Why is it so easy for you to jump ships nowadays? Trust me, I have met enough to depict that the era of hustling with an up and coming guy is almost long gone!

Everyone is here for the shedders; nobody is ready for the ‘Surulere’ again!

Even when you live in Surulere as an up and coming guy, the babes will put pressure on you to leave for the Victoria Islands of this world.

Hmmmn..!!

I spoke with a couple of friends online and see what their responses are on dating an up and coming guy:

Many up and coming guys are not loyal jare, Why will you suffer with him when he is up and coming, and still suffer when he had made all the money, eh? Men, I would not gamble with my life abeg! I have done that many times and I have regretted it!

………………………………………………………………………………..

Dating an up and coming guy may make me love him out of pity, and loving out of pity will eventually drain me emotionally. It is not just all about making me realize you are hustling, You need to make me feel safe by spending on me no matter how small it is!

………………………………………………………………………………..

You will never know the true character of an up and coming guy until he has some cash to throw around. Then you will realize that dating an hustler is not really as it seems!

Another friend brought a weird dimension to dating an up and coming guy:

Before you decide on dating an up and coming guys, ladies. Please take out time to check out their families. There is nothing bad in being up and coming, but if the family is up and coming as well, then please scram!! Just scram!

Interesting statement, really!

Another lady said:

I can go down the lane with him. Support him in whatever capacity I can. But men! He should be able to cover his own half. He should not wait for me to cover for both of us because he is up and coming. He should be proud and provide succor too. A lady has got needs men! I am not saying I want heaven on earth, all I am saying is that he should be able to provide basic needs for himself and not get to rely on me for financial support. That way, it is easy not to feel pity and be rest assured that he is strong and committed to the relationship.

**Grab my Orijin** as these comments have made me thirsty already.

I leave the comments section to you guys!

What is your say and take? The ladies have a point, don’t they? NO to dating up and coming guys right?
