The African writers meet 2017 took place on Saturday, October 28 2017 and it was one of the best events I’ve been to all year. With a blend of fun, music, oratory and content education, any budding writer in Lagos would not have missed this event for anything in the world.

Hosted by OAP WFM 91.7 Laura Osubor and comedian Funbi Comedius, it was a great day filled with lots of fun and entertainment.

The seminar session had Olumide Holloway, a poetprenuer and CEO of i2x media who spoke about what it takes build a brand as a writer and a poet. He also mentioned various ways of making money from passion and creative abilities. He motivated and inspired writers with his pure oratory and motivational skills.

Non- fiction writer and blogger on TLSplace, Tunde Leye was also on hand to talk about how writers can leverage their creativity to build a brand for themselves. He stressed the need to start little and build gradually. He also mentioned the various ways of publishing. It was a session that really motivated writers.

My favourite relationship and literature blogger Elsie Godwin was also at the event to highlighted the process of making money from blogging. She also gave amazing tips to new bloggers on how to start blogging.

Adedoyin Jaiyesimi, founder of Sparkle Writers Club got everyone so emotional and mushy with her motivating and heart rendering speeech when she went on her journey of how to stay focused as a budding writer. She stated the alternative ways of making money apart from blogging, writing and publishing a book and poetry.

Although I did not stay till the end of the program, it was truly an amazing time, met new people and networked as well. Kudos to the African Writers Team for putting up such a remarkable event. If you missed this year, you should not miss the next one and the next!
