Before we get to that I’d like to share a couple of comments I saw on Naijasinglegirl’s blog about a Deeper Life wedding she attended, and what people had to say about it.

Taiwo had this to say on the abover wedding picture shared on NSG blog:
My friend got married in a deeper life church. No make up, no earrings, they exchanged bibles and not rings, the wife covered her hair. Her wedding gown was like it once belonged to her granny. She endured all these assault. She only showed her true colour when they wouldn’t let her family into the church on grounds that they were too ‘flashy’. She told the husband in front of the pastor to call his church to order or the wedding was off! Her family must witness her wedding or no wedding at all. The groom saw that she was serious and called to pastor aside, the family was then allowed to enter. The funniest part was after the wedding, she refused to snap any pictures. We no even know sey her sister brot her make up kit and jewelry, even a beautiful wedding gown was waiting in the car. She just disappeared for like 30 mins and returned transformed. We all couldn’t believe our eyes! She said she was now ready to snap pictures. The pastor got angry and left. She no even mind. I later asked her why she did that. She said na husband she marry, she no marry church. Her husband knew about the plan. He didn’t really approve but she made him know that dressing like her grandmother on her wedding will not make her a better wife in his house. And being beautiful and trendy will not make her the worst wife in his house.

Nawa oo. This wedding pics makes me terribly depressed, almost scaring me away from marriage. Dear Lord pls come to Cherryðoc’s aid. Tell me that when the time comes she won’t insist we marry in Deeper Life. Pls tell me it would be all I have ever dreamed of. Lord give me sign!
Eve: My uncle married a lady from Deeper Life, but apparently her dad was excommunicated from the church because he let his daughter marry an Anglican 😶. This was after making my uncle drag his priest to meet their pastor. I thought we were serving the same God.

My question is, are there issues with the wedding doctrines of Deeper Life church? Why do we have a lot of grievances on the part of Nigerian ladies with respect to the doctrines of Deeper life on weddings.
If you were the bride and you were given commandments to follow being a member of a deeper life church, will you cancel your wedding because of this?

September 25, 2017 at 3:03 pmBut really, the wedding dresses from the pictures are not that bad… I understand they might not be “trendy”, but ladies should understand all of these before agreeing to have their weddings in a Deeper Life church. And the beauty is, if you marry the husband you really should marry, everything will be only as you guys want it after that day’s event.

September 30, 2017 at 10:09 pmThere is nothing you can do in this life that pleases man. wedding gowns are not prohibited only if they expose the body, and again some people do not have the money to purchase wedding gowns and this days is hard to find a decent wedding gown. Looking gallant on your wedding day is not the main point but how you will be able to manage your home. As far as your husband does not see you as a grand ma, that is it.
As Christians a true child of God, we do not conform to the world in the end all is Vanity.

April 1, 2018 at 10:34 pmDifferent churches have different doctrine that guide their members. The woman in the first post was insensitive to the belief and dress code of the husbands church.
This show that she is narrow minded or would be a bad wife in future. They did not put a gun to her head before agreeing to marry a deeper life member. Some churches allow indecent dressing, exposing parts that should be seen only by her husband.
I am not a saint by any stretch of the imagination but Nigeria today has lost their morality. The country is plagued by kidnapping, ritual killers, armed robbers, militants, prostitution and terrorists. I believe the issue of couples choosing to wed without frivolous things like makeup or jewelry is unimportant.

September 1, 2019 at 8:56 pmWow…nice I must say….is it until you use makeup or makeover before you show forth the glory of God…. people who believe it is until they are well dressed with cloth not covering their body that is when they are fullfilling God word..no …..that is not when he would be happy but rather he would be sad….u claim to be a Christian and u dress like a prostitute….no unbeliever would believe the word you preach…please let’s caution our ways of dressing both in weddings and other programs….and let’s not please others ….most especially the females..thanks for reading
