Who says Nigerian men can’t write love letters? When love fills your heart, you could pen the most beautiful love poem for the one you love. This love letter will not only come from deep within, but it will also carry with it, the fire, the emotion of how you feel at the moment you write.
The inspiration to write love messages do not come every day, they are triggered by moments of a flicker of emotions, like birthdays, wedding ceremonies, even on wedding anniversaries.
Nigerian Journalist, Tosin Oluwalowo, who had a rough journey in love has taken to Facebook to pen this beautiful and emotional love message to his wife.
This emotional love message gave us goosebumps, and we hope you love it too.
A letter to love
When I first tried out love, it left a sore taste in my mouth, yes, I said I was not going to give it a try again.
I was afraid my heart would not be able to take me through that journey again after that horrible experience. My mind was made up.
But then, it took just that chickenpox I had to see how much you care, it was indeed so strange to see stranger care so much… Well, you were not meant to be a stranger, you were meant to be my heart.
Like a gift you are, you chose the August 21 – my birthday – five years ago to commit yourself to love me, it was that baby me, putting up my baby step – trying to walk into love again.
You never stopped, you held me right by the hand and you taught me how to love again, by loving me even more.
I had never felt so special all my life, the way you make me feel, yes, like a man again, like your man.
Even with the distance far, my heart was always with you, because you were indeed made out of me – my missing rib taken by God while I was asleep.
When that shy me popped the question, that Friday night of November 9, you willingly accepted to ride on a journey of love with me, a journey of trust and hope.
The moments of counselling though very tasking, were light for me. But just like Jacob, the “seven years seemed to me like a few days” because of the love I have for you.
When that pastor tried to ruin my joy on our wedding day by coming late, I was never bothered, because I was certain nothing could stop you from becoming mine again forever. Yes, I danced through those makeshift praise worship sessions with complete excitement.
My love, it’s been one year of getting to know you. Within this one year, you have shown me much love that the ones I have experienced in the previous fours years I had thought I knew you.
Should I talk about your never stopping prayers for me? “Tosin, just say Amen to this prayers as I say them for you.”
Or is it about the times you had to inconvenience yourself on Sundays to bring food to me at work? Oh, and yes thanks for bringing my dream job to me just one week after our wedding… You have never stopped being my gift.
I’m grateful for always helping me out by ironing my clothes, even when I know you really didn’t feel like. Thanks for packing things up when I scatter them.
Baby thanks for always asking me, “so which chapter are you now, we are starting Joshua tomorrow o, so you really need to catch up.”
Thanks for quickly coming out of your mood when I get you angry.
I can go on and on but really words would fail me to tell you how good you have been to me in this last one year.
I am happy I have many of those years to spend with you.
I promise undying love to you and I promise to always be my best for you all the time through God’s help.
I love you and will always do.
